The Lodge at Eagle Rock offers centrally located all-inclusive setting on the famous Missouri River tailwater near Craig, Montana. The lodge offers luxurious accommodations and excellent service for our guests that are looking to target the Missouri. The Missouri is often described as a huge spring creek with lazy currents, cold waters and ample weed beds that give rise to heavy hatches of aquatic insects. Average size of trout in the Missouri is impressive with 17" rainbows in abundance and larger browns possible. The Missouri is a good early season river in terms of catch rates and then offers some technical dry fly opportunities over heavy hatches in mid summer and early fall.

Fishing
The Missouri River is widely renowned as one of the West's top tailwaters. The large volume exits the bottom of Hauser Lake at Wolf Creek producing cold waters rich with weed beds and abundant aquatic insects and other macro invertebrates upon which trout feed. Growth rates are high for trout in the Missouri and the average rainbow is often in the 16-19" class. Some large browns also patrol the river. The "Mo" is often referred to as a large spring creek and can provide technical match the hatch fishing over the caddis and pale morning dun hatches of early summer, the early morning trico hatches of August and the blue winged olives of spring and fall. Nymphing can also be productive on the gravel drop offs and seams.
