Martin Pescador Lodge offers guests an extremely diverse program and is a great base for sampling Chilean fly fishing. The program seamlessly blends 2 lodges over 7 nights and 6 days of fishing where anglers have access to 12 rivers and 8 lakes in one of Patagonia's most beautiful regions. With over 35 boats stashed in different locations, each day anglers are paired with experienced guides and take "off the beaten path" fishing to another level. The seven-day program is split between two distinct lodges, with a seamless midweek transfer day that’s handled—luggage and all—by the experienced Martin Pescador team.
Two strategically located lodges put guests at the heart of an extensive assortment of fisheries, including Río Yelcho and Lago Yelcho, Río Futaleufú, Río and Lago Rosselot, Río Figueroa, Río Pico, and others that are too numerous to list, while jet boats, rafts, catarafts, and hybrid power drifters deliver never-repeated days. Martín Pescador Lodge was designed to up the ante on anyone’s idea of a great day on the water, with a view and a pisco sour to top it all off.
The light fishing pressure and productive waters make Martin Pescador a hot spot for anglers targeting trophy trout on the fly and numerous trout over 10lbs are landed by lodge guests each season. Guests can expect highly experienced guides, great service and a huge variety of fishing options. Fishing
Rivers
From the different lodges that make up the Martin Pescador program you can wade and float some of the region's best rivers. During summer and early fall, anglers can throw dry flies to pods of rainbows or throw big attractor dries to entice large browns. Some of the rivers fished include the Yelcho, Futaleaufu, Palena, Rosselot, Figueroa, and Pico. The two locations access two distinct regions, where you’ll fish for large trout. Lifetime catches of 23+ inches are frequently a weekly occurrence. An extensive fleet of boats and vehicles places anglers on Patagonia’s most wild, untouched stretches, where casting big streamers, sight-casting to cruising rainbows, and throwing dry flies make for action-packed days. Combine the diversity of water, notoriously large wild trout, and an angling program that leaves no stretch unexplored, and you’ve got a truly unique Patagonian angling experience--one of the most rewarding in all fly fishing in Chile or Argentina.
Lakes and Lagunas
This region of Chile offers some of the world's best trophy trout fishing in incredibly productive lakes and lagoons. Watching large, trophy-sized trout launch out of the water to intercept dragonflies is not uncommon when fishing the reed beds on these lakes and lagoons. Whether sight casting to huge fish patrolling weed beds or swinging for the fences with big streamers, these spectacular lakes and lagoons are a great way to add variety to floating and wading the many rivers in the region.
Guides
Your guides at Martin Pescador are highly experienced. The program utilizes both American and local Chilean guides that speak excellent English.
Accommodations
Lodges
After arriving into the region, guests are transferred to Rio Yelcho Lodge for the first portion of the trip. For the second portion, luggage and additional gear is transferred to the second lodge, Rio Rosselot. This is done during fishing so guests can focus on the fishing. Both lodges feature rustic natural wood and colorful splashes of textured accents, the rooms at Rio Yelcho Lodge and Rio Rosselot Lodge are equal to any other remote, world-class fishing lodge. The wood-heated retreats provide breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness and all of the delightful amenities that guests crave after a long day on the water. Guests can expect to either leave for fishing directly from the lodges or drive to strategically placed boats and discover other fishing options in the area.
Dining
The cuisine at Martín Pescador Lodge is meticulously planned and prepared. Using locally grown ingredients from neighboring farms, local butcheries, and their own greenhouses, guests enjoy a dining program as highly regarded as the fishing. Most days are started with made-to-order breakfasts and riverside lunches are prepared on fishing days. After a day fishing guests enjoy delicious apres-fishing fare and three-course dinners. The last evening is a Chilean-style barbeques, or “asado” as they’re called locally.
