Join Montana Angler for our 4th return visit to the Patagonia Baker Lodge in southern Chile. Patagonia Baker Lodge was recently purchased by our friends Eduardo and Consuelo who operate Magic Waters Lodge. They completely rebuilt the lodge from the ground up and the new property is spectacular. Our dates in mid-April coincide with the early fall window in Chile and is the best time of the year for chances at massive browns that drop out of the lake. There are also options to add on remote river camping or a stay at Magic Waters Lodge for an extended stay.
Patagonia Baker Lodge offers some of the most unique wild trout fisheries in the world including the Baker, Cochrane, Maiten, Chocobuco, Lago General Carrera and more. The Baker is Chile's largest river and offers large, hard fighting fish. The traces of glacial flour give the clear waters of the Baker an electric blue look that is like no other on earth. In addition to the Baker guests can wade fish small productive rivers like the Maiten with fast action dry fly fishing, sight cast on clear water lakes, or spot and stalk massive wild trout on the spring creek like Rio Cochrane.
With few other established fly fishing lodges or outfitters in the region anglers will have most of these amazing waters to themselves on this trip. The lodge is located directly on the river with views of rapids and glacier covered peaks from the impressive dining room. PBL is also a great destination to mix in some non fishing activities including hiking to glaciers, sea kayaking, hiking in the National Parks, horse back riding, touring the Marble Caves by boat, etc.
Needless to say we can't wait to get back to Patagonia Baker Lodge.
